Arranging an assessment
Outpatient appointments are booked on (+86) 023-8191 3691, and administrative questions go to (+86) 023-8191 3592. International patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring photographs of your skin from one and three years ago if you have them, because they show how the scarring and the redness have changed and whether the acne is still active. Bring a written list of what bothers you most about the scars and what you would refuse.
What a good assessment includes
An examination of the scars in good light, at rest and with the skin moved, so that tethering can be seen rather than guessed. An assessment of skin tone and of how your skin has behaved after previous injuries, including any tendency to keloid or to darken after inflammation. A check that the acne is quiet and that there is no active infection. And a judgement about how many days of visible healing you can actually carry.
What to ask about the plan
Ask which type of scarring is being treated and why that option suits it. Ask what the plan would leave unchanged. Ask how many sessions are planned, at what interval, and what would make the plan stop. Ask what happens if pigment changes afterwards, who reviews it, and what treating it would involve. Ask whether a test area on a small patch is sensible for your skin tone before a full course.
Before you commit
No decision needs to be made at the first appointment, and neither option needs to be chosen before the acne has been settled and the scar type named. Take the plan away, read it against the guides on this site, and come back with questions. A discount that expires, or pressure to book a course before the assessment is complete, is information about the clinic rather than about your skin.
