This is education, not advice

The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you which type of scarring you have, how your skin tone will respond, or whether either fractional laser or microneedling is appropriate for your skin, your health or your circumstances.

Neither option is a default

Nothing on this site should be read as ranking one treatment above the other, or as describing one as the sensible starting point. Each reaches a different scar pattern, both carry real risks and real costs, and the choice follows from an examination rather than from a clinic’s routine.

No scar is removed

Neither fractional laser nor microneedling removes an acne scar. A scar is a completed injury and both options change how it looks rather than erasing it. Improvement is usually partial and cannot be promised in advance, and how a particular scar responds is known only after a course of treatment has been given and reviewed.

Pigment change is a real risk

Pigment change — areas that heal darker or lighter than the surrounding skin — is a recognised outcome of both options, and the risk is higher in darker skin tones and after sun exposure in the weeks that follow. The risk can be reduced by conservative settings, technique and aftercare, but it cannot be removed, and a plan that does not mention it has not described itself honestly.
